Caroline Bru (Workman)

Caroline (Known as Buddy by her friends and family) attended the 45th class reunion (her first) as a birthday gift from her children.  She had a wonderful time and was planning to come for the 50th.  So sorry she won't be there!

Caroline Echo Workman "Buddy".   "One of the sweetest spirits to ever grace our existence", passed away peacefully at home August 24, 2006.  She was born March 1, 1941 in Marshalltown, Iowa to George and Gertrude Bru.  She married Dennis Arthur Workman September 8, 1961 and later divorced.  She spent most of her life in Salt Lake City, Utah.  She attended the Salt Lake School of Business where she acquired many lifelong skills which set the tone for her career as a legal secretary after raising her children.  She worked many years for several private  law firms in Salt Lake City and more recently, she spent 20 years working for the judicial system and other state entities.  She had six children, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She had many enviable talents; cake decorating, crafting and sewing, only to name a few.  Her dogs were her companions, Callie and Zoey had a special place in her heart.  She had a tremendous love for her grandchildren, delighting in their frequent visits.  She enjoyed watching movies and playing "Scrabble" with her children.  She took great pride in preparing Easter dinner for the whole family.  Her life gave her many experiences, both good and bad.  She was steadfast and true through every trial she faced, never giving up.  Recently, she survived a devasting illness and she was looking forward to moving into her new home.  She was able to attend her 45 year class reunion and took great pride in sharing all that life had given her.  A trip to Mexico with her dear friend was a lifelong dream fulfilled.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister and former husband.  Survived by her children, Kevin (Teresa), Kimberly (Michael), Kelly, Kendall (Sherri), Kyle (Lisa) and Kathleen (Richard); as well as her adoring grqandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are her brothers Denny  (Demi) and Siegried (Linda) and her sister Martha (Rick); as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends, with special mention of Sherrell Leatherwood and Karen Smith and their families.  A viewing will be held Tuesday, August 29th from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August 30th, 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 East Spring Lane (5050 South).  Online condolences may be made at www.larkinmortuary.com
