John Perry, 71 of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. 

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. The interment will be on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethel Grove Cemetery in Liscomb. John’s memory will live on as he was a tissue donor. Memorials may be directed towards the family. John Perry was born on April 11, 1941, in Marshalltown, Iowa to Newton Alexander Perry and Margaret Jane Williams. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1959. John was employed at the Times Republican for 30 years as a Printer before finishing his working years as a black jack dealer at Meskwaki Casino. John was an avid gamer. He enjoyed strategy and war games about the Civil War. He even invented games and made custom pieces that he painted that were highly detailed. He was also a history buff with anything pertaining to the Civil War. 

Left to cherish his memory is his children: Matthew Perry from Midland, Texas; Alexander (Amber Mulinix) Perry of Montezuma, Iowa and Aaron (Jessica) Perry of State Center. Grandchildren: Savannah, Korbin, Kaulin, Noah and Lily. Brother; Harold (Elda) Perry of Marshalltown; sister in law Edith Perry of Marshalltown and numerous nieces and nephews. 

John is preceded in death by both of his parents; son: Chris Perry and brother Melvin Perry.
