Jean L. Stubbs Cunningham

I am living in the mountains and absolutely love it! Very active in skiing, hiking, biking, camping, etc. After graduating from Drake in 1963, I taught four years in Iowa City, Iowa. I ended my teaching career after 23 years in Springfield, Illinois.

Last year I traveled around the world with my daughter, son-in-law and three grandchildren. We visited mainly developing countries. It truly was the experience of a lifetime.

My memories of those high school years: the wonderful friends that were such a part of my life at that time ( and in many cases still are), how hard I worked to finally make the cheerleading squad, the pep rallies and going from the high school down main street to the Y, Mermaids, working at the swimming pool during the summer and Fantle's Department Store over Christmas, taking the college entrance exam in the auditorium - being practically the last one out and my friends who were waiting outside for me, commenting to each other how "easy" it was. I about broke into tears until I realized they were just "messin" with me. Also, church league basketball and, of course, Mr. Melvin.
